“So if the son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36
The truth of being set free in Jesus grants you a victory that extends far beyond this life into eternity. In Matthew 10:28, Jesus tells you to “not be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
This reveals the magnificent liberty found in Christ. Yes, it certainly lasts to eternity, but it has significant effects even now. It’s what helps you overcome the enemy of your soul! The Bible says that this enemy of your soul prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). But as you navigate spiritual warfare, whatever form that may take in your life, you’re empowered not to walk in fear but with mindful awareness because of your faith in the authority you have in Christ, who already secured the victory for you.
In addition, you’ve got a few weapons at your disposal. Praying earnestly for protection or wisdom, singing praise to God, and of course reading or reciting scripture. The Scriptures are a sword meant for this specific purpose! Each word you utter from them disrupts the enemy’s plans because he despises the word of God and he despises praises sung to God.
In Luke 10, we see the joy Jesus’ disciples had as they served him and witnessed even demons submitting to His name. Among other things, I think this represents the joy you can experience when you live in the will of God, serving him out of the liberty he’s given you.
So remember, the battles you face may include a lot of aspects, but their core is spiritual. Aligning yourself with Christ enables you to live in victory.
